On Fire!

What do fire hoses, conveyor belts and army parachutes all have in common? Well, it may seem surprising, but they are all materials used by Kresse Wesling and James Henrit in their upcycling organisation, Elvis & Kresse. In fact, the creative duo will transform pretty much any old rubbish into practical and attractive accessories.

Kresse collects the waste materials and James reinvents them, giving them a new life and a new purpose. So far, successful projects have included everything from iPhone cases to beds, and their home in Bournemouth is an upcycled haven; only the fridge was bought as new, much to their distress.

They are primarily known for their spectacular use of decommissioned fire hose. Not a single inch of the 22 metre long hose is ever wasted; the unlikely material is converted into a range of stunning bags and the metal nozzles are made into candlesticks. AMAZING! And if you want to know the icing on the brilliantly upcycled cake, they also donate half of the profits from the bags to the Fire Fighters Charity.
